This would make the intial opponent suffer 150% damage plus knockback when 6 other characters are chained in the final smash.

This area effect will cause the initial opponents to suffer an extra 20 damage for every opponent near him, plus a bit of knock back with each hit. The way I think this weapon can transfer into a final smash is Quote tosses the level 3 Blade, releasing King's spirit which will do let's say 50 damage to it's initial opponents, however if other opponents are in the radius of the attack, each of them will receive 20 damage plus knockback from the area effect if the player mashes the attack buttons after king was released. While it is true that there are technically more powerful weapons in Cavestory, I felt this weapon was the most fitting because it's sentimental value. The Level 3 Blade also has an area effect which does a little bit of extra damage to all near by enemies after the blade is released If one chooses to mash the attack button. At level 3 King comes out to attack, while initially in Cavestory the level 3 Blade isn't too powerful compared to it's previous level, still doing about 18 damage "which is still very high compared to most weapons in Cavestory" however against big bosses the level 3 Blade can perform anywhere between 30-80 damage. In Cavestory after King dies he gives Quote his blade, the blade Contains King's spirit. Because of this I made most of Quote's special moves based on weapons the Polar Star can be Traded for. Throughout Cavestory Quote first receives the polar Star, & can trade it with 1of 3 options depending on the player's choice. I just chose to utilize these images since it was the easiest way to show the different levels & effects the weapons have visually. The damage stats shown here are the actual damage they do in Cave Story & don't effect how powerful the weapons would be in Smash. This helps represent how Quote plays in Cavestory, having very precise playstyle to ensure victory.ĭo note the images of the weapons & their levels come from the Cavestory tribute site. The better one is at dodging and shielding enemy attacks, the better one will be at Quote as a whole since his damage output will remain high. So, Quote's gimmic for smash Is that his weapons start out powerful, but if Quote is hit while using one of them the weapon will level down after a amount of damage is recieved, giving an extra challenge to fighting with Quote. In Cavestory weapons gain experience & become stronger through leveling up via experience points, however weapons can also level down to their base if one gets hit enough times. For this reason it would be great to have Quote to be an indie game rep for smash, while also fitting since Nintendo has had a pretty consistently good relationship with Nicalis. The likes of Undertale, Shovel Knight, Hollow Knight, Axiom verge, and many other would not exist in the form we know them today without Cavestory.
