I never like Square Enix games and it is because they are always full of gloomy back drops and crap gameplay, with annoying characters. I turned off and went back to it and then forgot half of the area and had to rebump tens of enemies to get my bearings again. I got bumped so much and mashed A so much, I got bored. There is tons to discover, and the use of 8 protagonists truly lets the player explore the world through 8 different sets of eyes. Sage Frontier is a game that can really grow with your own understanding of it. As an adult, I find many RPGs trite, uninspired, and too simple in their mechanics. Mariche takes up to many skill slots so I end up with not all the final skills I went I have trouble with Black Dragon if I didn't absorb enough skills, which ends up being an issue when I do run Thunder because I get him in that trisaur form and then don't want to change him since he can just stomp everything besides the final boss like that. Then in the end it's Black Dragon or Mariche. 99% of the time when I feel like using monsters I just recruit Thunder because he's basically Trisaur Man
I usually hunt for trisaur (shockwave and, uh? lightning pierce? charge? IDK) or sonic bat forms (ultrasonic wave, uh, claw and suck blood?) to carry me. I hate having guides open on my phone or computer but there's no way I can memorize every skill every monster gives I was thinking about this during my current run on the game.
